Per Aspera Ad Astra (Russian: Через тернии к звёздам, USA screen name - Through the Thorns to the Stars; Humanoid Woman) is a 1981 Soviet science fiction film directed by Richard Viktorov and based on a novel by Kir Bulychov.
Richard Viktorov was born on 7 November 1929 in Tuapse, Tuapsinskiy rayon, Severo-Kavkazskiy kray, RSFSR, USSR [now Krasnodarskiy kray, Russia]. He was a director and writer, known for To the Stars by Hard Ways (1981), Kometa (1984) and Perestupi porog (1970).

A bit long but worth seeing. The story of Kir Bulychyov and Richard Viktorov is interesting and honorable by the same Richard Viktorov along with Nikolay Viktorov. It made me think of Tarkovski, "Solaris" and "Stalker". Yelena Metyolkina is impeccable in the role of the Niyya clone. And all the other actors are very credible and convincing.
To the Stars by Hard Ways: Directed by Richard Viktorov, Nikolay Viktorov. With Yelena Metyolkina, Nadezhda Sementsova, Vadim Ledogorov, Uldis Lieldidzs. A female creature created in space tries to live on earth and has special (and sometimes dangerous) powers.

Dec 1, 2008 · The film’s director, a talented filmmaker Richard Viktorov made this picture truly “by hard ways”, undermined at every turn by hostile Soviet bureaucrats and censors. The budget has been cut several times. With this in mind, the integrity of vision achieved in the film is nothing short of a miracle.
