Feb 12, 2020 · Thankfully, despite Redline being an anime movie prioritizing style over substance (which it does incredibly well), it gives enough material to the protagonists, in this case, J.P. and Sonoshee. However, between the two, J.P. would definitely be the main protagonist.
Redline is the pinnacle of what every racing movie inspires to be, fast paced, high octane, absolutely insane, and stunningly beautiful. It does this while all being set to one of my favorite anime soundtracks, so good that it rivals those of FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Madoka, Attack on Titan, Kill la Killa, and the Monogatari Series (as well as anything else that I missed).
Redline is good because it is an adrenaline rush (and one of the best I have ever seen) but other than that it is a pulp fiction of anime. Notable funky boy the akira reference, the heavy metal-esque space ship scenes and the speed racer plot with star wars aliens.
Redline is 5938 on the JustWatch Daily Streaming Charts today. The movie has moved down the charts by -145 places since yesterday. In the United States, it is currently more popular than Heist but less popular than White Christmas.
