The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is a family run museum and was set up in 1989. The VIP day is a whole day experience taking place mid-week providing you with the most relaxed look over the aircraft and the chance to talk Lancasters with the crew and other like-minded people for the whole day. Also inclusive of a briefing, tour of the aircraft, morning coffee, lunch and afternoon refreshments.
The Centre is home to Lancaster NX611 and a museum based on a WWII airfield with original control tower, Escaping Society museum, Home Front exhibition, Hampden restoration project, memorial chapel and many memorabilia exhibitions. The Centre is open Mon-Sat. Closed Sundays. During the Summer the Lancaster performs taxy runs usually once a week.
About Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. RAF East Kirkby opened on 20 August 1943 as a Bomber Command Station. In total, 212 operations were carried out from this airfield, from which 121 Lancasters failed to return. Another 29 were lost in operational crashes/accidents. The airfield was closed in 1964.
