Helen Humes (June 23, 1913 – September 9, 1981) was an American jazz and blues singer. Helen was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved to New York and became a recording vocalist with Harry James big band in 1937.
Helen had perfect standards interpretation. Some songs like Solitude in gospel feeling. She was great with small combo or big band. This reissue is probably from late 70´s.

Helen Humes (June 23, 1913 - September 9, 1981) was an American jazz and blues singer. Helen was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved to New York and became a recording vocalist with Harry James big band in 1937.
From a musical family, Helen Humes learned to play trumpet and piano as a child, and made her first records for the OKeh label in 1927. After relocating to New York, she recorded with Harry James and, in 1938, joined Count Basie’s band, replacing Billie Holiday.
