Totally useless now... This is an update after my previous review: They removed the tree counter. I thought it was temporary but after waiting 1 week, it didn't return. I have since switched to Startpage from Ecosia and I have noticed that Startpage has way, way better search results (I was willing to make the sacrifice for the environment but not having the tree counter makes it useless).

Ecosia after all is still a pretty small company with roughly 8 million users (although this is growing really fast). As far as the misleading search results or collecting data go, this isn’t really something we can test. But given the track record of the team at Ecosia I’m pretty confident they aren’t out to scam people.

Plant trees for anywhere between $10-$60 and you’ll receive a certificate of your giving — which you can give as a gift. You can even get specific, by donating trees that support urban equity, trees that empower women, or trees that help wildlife.
As good as Google, but grows trees instead of profits. Ecosia is really easy to use online, or through their apps for apple and android. I switched 6 months ago and have never looked back. The website and app are really clear and easy to use with a layout which is very similar to Google.
Ecosia I love your mission, but your usability could really use some work, please put more focus on User experience by hiring some extra UX designers and testers. After using Ecosia for 3/4 months it annoyed me to the point of switching back to google even though I'm against their policies.
