Both of my parents were born in Morocco but I'm from The Netherlands. I used to be fluent in Darija when I was a kid, but it faded away due to us not being able to visit as much. Be patient, it's a difficult dialect to learn, and try to befriend a moroccan that can teach you how to talk. Best way is taking lessons. I'm a foreigner as well and also starting from scratch. Since half a year I'm taking Darija lessons and it goes very well since i'm dedicating time to it.
