Jan 11, 2016 · Jor and Lara knew that the survival of Kryptonian way of life was ingrained into their genes. Their hope was that Kal would find an uninhabited planet which he could use to revive Krypton (I believe in this theory because he asks Kal to save earth, instead of allowing Zod to destroy it).
In Smallville they do the exact opposite of that and make it so that Kara can do so much more than Clark can once she's freed from stasis. All that does is it makes Clark look extremely incompetent and unmotivated to maximize his abilities.
While away from Smallville, Clark wore a red kryptonite ring to further distance himself from what he used to be. Aware of Clark's disobedience and reckless behavior, Jor-El periodically caused the mark on Clark's chest to burn painfully until Clark removed the ring.
