Zakir Hussain’s father, Ustad Alla Rakha Qureshi, was a renowned Indian tabla player who passed away on 3 February 2000 after suffering from a heart attack. Zakir’s mother was Bavi Begum. Zakir Hussain has two brothers, Taufiq Qureshi, who is a musician and a composer, and Fazal Qureshi, who is also a tabla player.
