  1. Ice Age is a progressive band from New York City, USA. Founded by guitarist Jimmy Pappas, vocalist/keyboardist Josh Pincus, drummer Hal Aponte and bassist Arron DiCesare, the band released their debut album in 1999, titled The Great Divide. Liberation followed in 2001, both on Magna Carta Records.

  2. Stylistically, ICE AGE could fairly be described as an American progressive metal band of their era, having been influenced in equal measure by early DREAM THEATER, as well as rock legends such as RUSH, KANSAS & STYX, whose influence can all be heard, to a greater or lesser extent.

  3. Ice Age is a much underrated band, in my opinion. I hear much more talk about other progressive bands such as Dream Theater (obviously), Liquid Tension Experiment, Symphony X, and to a lesser extent, Andromeda and Spiral Architect. If you're a fan of the previously mentioned bands or a fan of progressive metal in general, check out "Liberation."

  4. Jul 1, 2001 · Ice Age: Liberation. by Glenn Astarita July 1, 2001. On Liberation, prog-metal rockers, “Ice Age” renders a set of theme pieces via Josh Pincus’ spirited and meticulously expressive vocals, as this band incorporates melodic choruses, amid hard driving riffs and complex time signatures.

  5. Prog metal. 12 songs (63'07) Release year: 2001 Magna Carta. Reviewed by Chris. Interesting prog band, not really a diamond of originality but they have many other qualities. I dunno what's going on since it seems I start to like the style (prog) more and more lately.

  7. Liberation is not another junk CD! It's a 12 track album full of imagination (great lyrics) and talent. Josh's vocals remind me somehow of the 70's (I hope it's not just the recording's outcome) and that's the most fascinating part of it all!
