The Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD Museum) is an art museum integrated with the Rhode Island School of Design, in Providence, Rhode Island, US. The museum was co-founded with the school in 1877. It is the 20th-largest art museum in the United States, and has seven curatorial departments.
The only comprehensive art museum in southeastern New England, it is a vital resource for RISD and the broader community. With seven curatorial departments, the museum offers a varied program of exhibitions, lectures, tours, workshops and publications.
Our collection currently contains more than 100,000 works of art and design dating from ancient times to today. Of these objects, 759 of them are on view in the museum now. 84,669 of them are available online. There are 1,596 recent acquisitions. All of our collection records are living documents.
HOURS: TUE, WED, FRI, SAT, SUN 10am - 5pm, THU 12 - 8pm. The museum is closed on June 19th, July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Admission is free on Sundays from 10am - 5pm and Thursday evenings from 5 - 8pm. Purchase advanced tickets here.
