Ambush is a 1950 American Western film starring Robert Taylor, John Hodiak and Arlene Dahl. Directed by Sam Wood, the film is based on the serial story Ambush by Luke Short in The Saturday Evening Post (25 December 1948 – 12 February 1949).
Ambush: Directed by Sam Wood. With Robert Taylor, John Hodiak, Arlene Dahl, Don Taylor. In 1878, Ward Kinsman, a prospector and Indian scout, is persuaded by the US Cavalry to find Mary Carlyle, the daughter of a general, who has been taken by Apaches.

Ambush has a few superlatives: it was MGM's first film of the 1950's, and director Sam Wood's last. It was not Bob Taylor's first Western, but it was the one which officially kicked off his foray into the genre which would become his favorite, making a dozen more over the rest of his career.
