    • Charge Your iPhone Battery. It may sound obvious, but make sure your iPhone's battery is charged. To test this, plug your iPhone into a wall charger or into your computer.
    • Restart iPhone. If charging the battery didn't turn your iPhone on, the next thing you should try is to restart the phone. To do this, hold down the on/off button at the top right corner or the right side of the phone for a few seconds.
    • Hard Reset the iPhone. Try a hard reset if the standard restart didn't do the trick. A hard reset is a restart that clears more of the device's memory (but not its storage.
    • Restore iPhone to Factory Settings. Sometimes your best bet is restoring your iPhone to its factory settings. This erases all the data and settings on your phone (hopefully you synced your iPhone recently and backed up your data).
    • Battery Discharged. Check that your iPhone is not just discharged. Usually, the iPhone will give you a screen prompting you to plug it in when the battery is too low to power on, but if the battery is extremely low, there might not be enough energy to power the display.
    • Firmware Crash. If your iPhone stops powering on for no apparent reason, i.e. you didn’t drop it, expose it to water, or sustain other damage to it since it last turned on, the most likely culprit is a firmware crash.
    • Bad Battery. Over time, the batteries in smartphones will start to degrade and hold less and less charge over time. If you’ve been using your iPhone excessively and have accumulated multiple thousands of charge cycles, your battery may have degraded to a point where it can no longer hold a charge.
    • Dirty Charging Port. If the charging port is clogged with debris or the charging cable contacts are dirty, this can prevent the battery from charging. Clean the port using a toothpick or other non-conductive probe, like a spudger, and a little isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, and try a different charging cable.
