The Dawn Rider is typical for the most part, though by 1935 Wayne is fairly adept in the lead role and the stunts are good. The film is more action than acting. It is also always pleasing to see Yakima Canutt, in front of the camera (as the villainous saloon keeper) as well as throwing himself under horses and carts as the stuntman in the action scenes.
