The general purposes of the California Writers Club are to provide a forum for literary criticism and for recognition of achievement, to discover new authors and assist them in developing their talent, and to sponsor educational meetings to promote professional growth.
The California Writers Club archives its historic original papers at the Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, one of the largest and most heavily used libraries of manuscripts, rare books, and unique items in the United States.
CWC history provides a firm foundation for our branch mission and motto of “Writers Helping Writers.” The stories about how the CWC began, the people and purpose behind the club, provide inspiration for writers at all levels.
The San Francisco Peninsula branch of the California Writers Club encourages, champions, and cheers on fellow writers like you. Meet other writers, find writing critique groups, develop the writing craft, learn about publishing, and more. Our speakers cover the writing spectrum.
California Writers Club is a nonprofit educational corporation. Members write novels, short stories, screenplays, poetry, nonfiction, and more. Over half of our members are published. In addition to professional and aspiring writers, CWC membership is open to non-writing literary experts.
