Aspen, CO (Aug. 30, 2022) Aspen Film is proud to announce the program for its 43rd Annual Filmfest, which will showcase top filmmaking from across the globe over six days: September 27-October 2, 2022.
The tradition of Aspen Film began 42 years ago in 1979 when our founder, Ellen Kohner Hunt, passed a note to a friend in an Aspen Arts Council meeting that read, “How about having a film festival”? Her management style never got more formal than that. Ellen ran Filmfest for seven years with one paid staff member, and that person wasn’t Ellen.
In addition to some timely and potent documentaries, we have a heavy dose of comedy, and will transport you to some surprising and far-off places. Messages of love, tenacity, truth, family, and freedom shine through many of our selections, and we encounter outstanding and unforgettable characters.
Internationally recognized Aspen Film organizes a major film event every season, along with an extensive education program: Aspen Filmfest, Academy Screenings, Aspen Shortsfest, Summer of Cinema, and FilmEducates.
