    Outremont is where Montreal’s wealthy French residents live. Similar to Westmount, the neighborhood is the home of Many of Montreal’s wealthy doctors, lawyers and politicians.

    Outremont is much more residential than many of the other Montreal neighborhoods. You will find many beautiful and impressive old homes each with their own distinct architecture.     Avenue Laurierfeatures many clothing boutiques, patisseries, coffee shops and restaurants. Avenue Laurier also features many sidewalk cafés.

    Avenue Bernard is the other main shopping street in Outremont. This street features lively restaurants and boutiques. The restaurants on this street tend to be chic, with fantastic food and sleek decor. Many of the restaurants tend to be a pit pricey but the food is generally quite good.

    The neighborhood’s main attraction is the Mount Royal Cemetery that sits at the bottom of Mount Royal, along with a section of the Université de Montréal campus. The neighborhood has a very large French-speaking population along with a significant Hassidic Jewish population.
