Mount Clemens is in south-central Macomb County, 20 miles (32 km) northeast of downtown Detroit, 37 miles (60 km) southwest of Port Huron, and 3 miles (5 km) west of Lake St. Clair. The Clinton River runs through the city.
Mount Clemens was once known as the Rose Capital of the United States. The Clinton River played a prominent role in the City’s development. From the earliest settlement, through the 1800’s and into the mid 1900’s, our citizens fished, hunted and trapped along its banks.

Jul 17, 2015 · Opened in 1899, the Saint Joseph Sanitarium and Bath House is the only building remaining from the Mount Clemens bath era. Beginning in 1870, people suffering from rheumatism, blood poisoning, diabetes and skin diseases, among other ailments, sought the curative powers of the baths.
