   • It was the harbour that led to Minster's prosperity over the ensuing centuries, allowing grain from Kent to be shipped to London. Minster Abbey was consecrated in 670 by St Theodore, then Archbishop of Canterbury. The first abbess was Ermenburga, who had taken the name Domna Eva on taking vows.
