Meaux (French pronunciation: ⓘ) is a commune on the river Marne in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. It is 41.1 km (25.5 mi) east-northeast of the centre of Paris .
Meaux is one of France's Towns of Art and History and famous for its Brie. The historic centre is a former episcopal city with a wealth of well-preserved heritage. The town's landmark site is the Gothic Saint-Étienne cathedral built from the 12th to the 14th centuries.

The town of Meaux is on the banks of the Marne river, in the Seine-et-Marne department of France and about 60 kilometres to the east of Paris, in the direction of Reims. It is the biggest town in the department (although not the prefecture / capital of Seine-et-Marne.

- Le Jardin Bossuet. Local tradition has it that the 17th-century flower garden behind the Episcopal Palace was designed by a young André Le Nôtre, the man who worked wonders at Versailles.
