Fortitude is a psychological thriller set in a fictional Arctic Norwegian town, where a series of mysterious deaths and secrets unfold. The series, created by Simon Donald, aired on Sky Atlantic from 2015 to 2018 and starred actors such as Stanley Tucci, Christopher Eccleston and Michael Gambon.
After that first season, always thought it would be a perfect setting for a True Detective-style cosmic horror, and felt that Fortitude never quite managed to realize the potential of its stellar cast and premise; not that it was bad necessarily—just that it suffered from poor execution.

"I wanted to write something set in a very small, pressure-cooker community where people are left to their own devices and have to sort things out themselves when something goes wrong," says Donald.
