The house is gorgeous and the tour guides are very informative. We went to the cafe for tea/coffee and a sandwich. There was a good selection of sandwiches, crisps and tray bakes.

   Is Florence Court a good place to visit?

   • The gardens at Florence Court are beautiful and well maintained. We didn't do the house tour, but there was still plenty to see- walks, gardens, little charming book store, shop, quaint workers buildings. Like the other NT properties, I wonder why the NI sites do not use the many smaller buildings to enhance the visitor experience?

   What happened to Florence Court?

   • The 5th Earl and his son, the late Viscount Cole, gave Florence Court to the Northern Ireland National Trust in 1953. Two years later, the centre of the house was severely damaged by fire; fortunately the staircase and much of the plasterwork was saved, and most of what was lost was restored under the direction of the late Sir Albert Richardson.
