  1. I'd say Carmilla is a good book and worth reading, particularly if you're interested in horror/vampires. I'd say Dracula is a great book, and I'd recommend it to anyone even if they've no particular interest in horror/vampires.

  2. Carmilla is an amazing and horrifying tale of a female vampire in love with a human girl. It’s crazy how a book like that was allowed to be in print in 1872. But personally I didn’t see how Dracula and Carmilla compared other than the similar era and vampires.

The Unwantedshifts much of the point of view focus onto Carmilla and foregrounds the character’s motivation, namely, the search for what happened to her mother Millarca, who had disappeared in New Canaan many years before. 3. A review by Kyla Ward and David Carroll, 2010. "You did this to me," a woman whispers, sliding a razor over a man's throat. Bound and gagged on a psychiatrist's couch, he gazes at her in horrified recognition. " Carmilla Hyde ." Switch to a different scene, where the threat is less overt.

  5. Dec 1, 2021 · Following on from Orla Newstead’s ‘Film VS The Novel: What is the Ultimate Form of Storytelling’, Ed Farley compares the book and film versions of Carmilla. “The book is better than the film” is something I have heard multiple times, yet haven’t ever been able to say.

  6. Jan 18, 2024 · In her 2014 essay, “Literary Nostalgia: Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu,” the poet and critic Shinjini Bhattacharjee effectively expressed what was so uniquely intimidating about Carmilla in the 19th century and why that should make her something of a folk-anti-hero in the 21st century:
