And a tragedy because we can identify with his failure–not the specific details, but the general outline.
The praise American Beauty has received has waned in recent years, and in my opinion for good reason. At the time it was considering a critique on the American dream from the lens of a straight white upper class male. The acting, score, and story are quite memorable.
