The Carol Burnett Show is an American variety / sketch comedy television show that originally ran on CBS from September 11, 1967, to March 29, 1978, for 279 episodes, and again with nine episodes in fall 1991. It starred Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, and Lyle Waggoner.
Burnett decided to end the show in 1978 to move on to other projects, although it remained in syndicated reruns for many years. The show was briefly revived on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC) in 1979 as Carol Burnett & Company and again on CBS as The Carol Burnett Show in 1991, but neither incarnation lasted a full season.
