May 16, 2024 · To check in at the airport, find the terminal for your airline and approach the check-in desk. Once you reach the desk, let the worker know if you will be checking any bags, and give the worker your identification so they can print your boarding pass.

- Start by checking in online. If you’ve upgraded to Premium, Extra Legroom seats or Extra Space seats, or chosen the Select Your Seat option, online check-in will open 14 days prior to your departure.
- Day-before bag drop. If your flight has a TOM flight number, your flight time is eligible, and you’re flying from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Gatwick or Manchester, you can check your bags in on the day before you're due to fly.
- Self-service bag drop. If you’ve checked in online, your flight has a TOM or BY flight number and you’re flying from an eligible airport, you can head straight to the self-service bag drop kiosks when you arrive at the airport.
- No bags to check in? If you’re just taking hand luggage with you on your flight, and you’ve checked in online, you can make your way to security as soon as you arrive at the airport.
On arrival at the airport, please check the information screens to find out which check-in desks you need. After you’ve checked in, it is advisable to go to security control straight away, leaving you plenty of time to relax and explore the many shops and restaurants in the departures lounge.
If you are, you may be able to check in online for free and print off your boarding pass, so all you need to do when you arrive at the airport is go straight through security. Do you need to check in online?
- Arrive to the airport at the right time. You want to make sure that you are arriving at the airport at the correct time. The general rule of thumb is to arrive two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight.
- Arrive at the right departures terminal. First, make sure you are getting dropped off or that you find parking in the correct departure section.
- Head to a check in/baggage counter if needed. If you already checked in on your mobile device you don’t need to go to any check-in desk unless you have bags to check.
- Prepare for security. It’s always helpful to prepare for security before you step foot in the line. That’s because you would otherwise be forced to get ready in a hurry or to remove items as you are trying to pull your luggage along.
Airport check-in. Our check-in desks generally open at least 2 hours 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time – see the check-in opening times at your airport. Please arrive at the airport in good time, as our check-in desks will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time.
Most airlines let you check in online, choose your seat and print your boarding pass about 24 hours before your flight. Visit your airline website for more information. If you've printed your boarding pass and aren't checking in a bag, you can go straight to security when you get to the airport.
