Mar 14, 2024 · Speaking during a Q&A session with The Hollywood Reporter, the star explained how his four-legged friend in the film is a nod to Mendes' late dog. "Eva used to have a dog named Hugo who was a Belgian Malinois who was an attack dog. He only spoke French," he told the audience. "He’s passed now, so this is my homage to him," Gosling added.
