    51.4989°N 0.0426°W. / 51.4989; -0.0426. Rotherhithe ( / ˈrɒðərhaɪð / RODH-ər-hydhe) is a district of South London, England, and part of the London Borough of Southwark. It is on a peninsula on the south bank of the Thames, facing Wapping, Shadwell and Limehouse on the north bank, with the Isle of Dogs to the east.

    • Visit the Mayflower pub. In 1620 history was made in Rotherhithe Village. A ship called The Mayflower set sail from the back of a local historic pub and sailed across the Atlantic.
    • Brunel Museum. Isambard Kingdom Brunel is considered by many to have been the greatest engineer who ever lived. He built everything – railways, tunnels, bridges, flat-pack hospitals and ships including the SS Great Britain (the first ship in the world powered by a propeller and now proudly exhibited in Bristol).
    • Sands Film. Next to The Brunel Museum on St Marychurch Street is Sands Films. It inhabits a Georgian warehouse originally called Grice’s Granary. Sands Films is unique.
    • The Salter statues. Victorian Rotherhithe was the soft underbelly of the great city. Life was a struggle due to poverty and disease. Work was scarce and much of it was dangerous.

This train line connects a loop around London, so provides a direct route to Rotherhithe from Clapham Junction, Islington, Shoreditch etc. You can get to Rotherhithe in around 15-20 minutes from these areas.
