Early life [ edit ] He was born in Paddington, London , [1] to Sir Maurice Bonham-Carter (1880–1960), a politician and cricketer , and his wife, Lady Violet Asquith (1887–1969), a political activist who was created Baroness Asquith of Yarnbury in 1964.
