Apr 1, 2014 · The new name Copland Community School, Cecil Avenue, which will become an ARK Academy from September, was chosen by a group of pupils and staff. The school will be named after Sir Arthur Elvin, a former World War One RAF pilot and cigarette kiosk worker who went on to become chairman of Wembley Stadium.

Apr 1, 2014 · Copland Community School in Cecil Avenue, will become ARK Elvin Academy in honour of a war hero who helped to build the old Wembley Stadium. Sir Arthur Elvin was a pilot for the Royal Flying Corps during World War One before he spent two years as prisoner of war when he was shot down in France.
