The premier men’s social organization at The University of Texas at Austin. One of the oldest student organizations at the University of Texas, the Tejas Club was founded in 1925 on the principles of friendship, leadership and scholarship.
The club chose to remain independent from the Greek system, and has remained so ever since. As the club expanded, it soon outgrew its home above the dry cleaners. By 1927, the Club had moved to a new place of residence on 1907 Nueces. In 1928, the club moved for a third time to a house on 307 West 26th Street.

Clark, who was the university’s head cheerleader in 1955 and student body president in 1957-58, publicly introduced the now world famous “Hook ’em Horns” hand sign during the 1950s. He was a member of Texas Cowboys, the Friar Society, and served as President of the Tejas Club.

Nov 30, 2021 · The Tejas Club has been rightfully subject to protests and criticism, and they’re not the only organization on campus that needs to be held accountable. The rape culture that is allowed to fester in fraternities on campus cannot be ignored, even as the current conversation turns to the Tejas Club.
