Rainmaker was a visual effects and post-production company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with an office in Los Angeles, California, United States, which contributed to the final works for feature films, television shows, commercials and video games. It acquired and folded into Mainframe Studios in 2007.
May 27, 2024 · Rainmaker Digital Effects (also known as Rainmaker Digital Pictures or just Rainmaker) was an artist-driven company located in both Burbank, California and Vancouver, British Columbia, specializing in visual effects and DVD encoding such as the Phoenix Pictures logo.
From our roots in the heady early days of CG animation, to our current leading-edge innovations, Mainframe animates our stories and yours!
Later that year, Rainmaker sold its visual effects and post production divisions to Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, leaving only the animation business. In June 2012, Chinese animation studio Xing Xing Digital announced its intent to purchase Rainmaker, with the company willing to pay off Rainmaker's $7 million debt.
Mar 16, 2020 · Since 2014, the company produced television series under the Mainframe brand and long-form projects under the Rainmaker brand. The consolidation under the Mainframe Studios name adds clarity to their core business and pays tribute to the legacy brand Mainframe Entertainment created.

Dec 19, 2023 · On October 26, 2016, Rainmaker acquired Burbank-based animation studio Frederator Studios, with both companies becoming part of their new holding company, known as WOW! Unlimited Media Inc. In March 2020, the Mainframe name was fully reinstated, replacing and retiring Rainmaker in the process.
