Reign of Winter is the third episode of the first season of the AMC+ animated sci-fi drama, Pantheon.
Chanda's life is on a loop; Maddie and David make up for time lost; Ellen tries to move on from her dead husband; Caspian watches his parents' marriage disintegrate while trying to start a romance of his own.
Unaware of his upload, Vinod Chanda continues to write code for Alliance and receives a call from his mother and his memory is erased at the end of each work day. In the real world, Ajit Prasad is amazed by Chonda's progress When the employee overseeing Chonda mentions emotional is being used to promote productivity, Prasad becomes annoyed but the man says it enough to keep him productive but not enough to make him aware. Prasad is pleased and leaves. Unknown to Chonda, he is being watched by an unknown entity.
At the Kim House, Maddie Kim is playing Reign of Winter. She calls for her father when she is struggling with a chimera. David Kim arrives and helps his daughter finish off the chimera. David says he was looking for Laurie Lowell, but cannot find her. They set out and David expresses his disbelief that Laurie helped him escape Logorhythms but has not contacted him since. David comments that Ellen Kim has not talked to him since he was freed as Maddie explains that she has had to work more since he died and that Ellen hates virtual reality. Just then, they are attacked by another party, but David breaks the game and kicks their attackers out. Logorhythms notices the spike and records it for when the tracking program is ready. Maddie berates her father for his actions and expresses her fears that the moderators could ban him and he could be hunted down by the NSA. She tells her father to act like he does not exist, to which he says his wife already thinks so. Maddie exits the game and agrees to talk to her mother for him.
At the Keyes House, Caspian Keyes is watching a video of Stephen Holstrom talking about Uploaded Intelligence as he thinks about an interaction he had with Hannah at school, telling her his personal life is none of her business. He browses through a dark web chat room that mentions that Logorhythms was attacked a second time in a week and Caspian types in that he believes the company is uploading human minds. Just then Renee walks in and apologizes for when Hannah visited. Caspian says he is looking into uploaded intelligence and Renee hides her shock as Caspian explains the process to her and shows her a video. She leaves as Caspian theorizes where they would do it. She goes to her car and calls Julius Pope to inform him of Caspian's current actions. Pope says they are monitoring him and tells her to focus on an act she is to perform the following day to insure Caspian experience the inflection point.
Back in India, Chonda is going about his supposed day when the entity pounds on the window of his office and breaks in. However, the employee overseeing him resets Chonda and he forgets the incident and Chonda goes about his day again.
Back in San Clemente, Renee and Cary are looking at hammers for the infection point and they have a small argument over picking a new hammer as the one they have is dirty. Renee tells Cary to take pride in his last day of work and he walks off. Renee thinks of an intimate moment she shared with Holstrom when he expresses the benefits of being uploaded once they crack integrity, only to be interrupted by Cary. Cary comes back with a hammer and hands it to Renee.
At Maddie's school, she is having lunch with Justine when she asks Maddie why she wanted her to accompany her to her meeting at the mall. Justine asks Maddie about her plans and Maddie mentions her parent's current relationship status. Justine reveals her parents were the same before their divorce, but Maddie insists they will stay together and plans to trick them into getting back together. Justine criticizes her plan as Maddie expresses her fears that her mother might marry her boyfriend.

Sep 8, 2022 · Pantheon delivers another solid episode with Pantheon Season 1 Episode 3, “Reign of Winter.” It is equal parts unsettling and heartfelt. “Reign of Winter” begins by showing viewers what happens to Chanda after he was uploaded against his will on Pantheon Season 1 Episode 2, “Cycles.”
