Leytonstone ( / ˈleɪtənˌstoʊn /) is an area in East London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It adjoins Wanstead to the north-east, Forest Gate to the south-east, Stratford to the south-west, Leyton to the west, and Walthamstow to the north-west, and is 7 miles (11 km) north-east of Charing Cross .

Leytonstone is a fairly large area and some bits of it are not particularly convenient for public transport. The main route there is the Central lune of the tube, which gets extremely busy at rush hour (say, 8 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 7 pm).
Today, Leytonstone sits on the fence between urban district and suburb; there isn’t much activity except for the high street, which contains branches of Tesco, Primark, Matalan and Boots. Leytonstone is also where the local hospital, Whipps Cross is located.
