Set in 1970, the film centres on Manon (Milya Corbeil-Gauvreau), a young girl who is staying with her aunt and uncle (Jean-François Boudreau and Julie Ménard) as her father is dying of cancer and her mother is struggling with depression.

One of the more interesting concepts for a film coming out of Canada in 2017, Les rois mongols (which was dubiously translated to the more inoffensive title "Cross My Heart") picks up on memories of the October Crisis in Quebec (1970) to explore the issue of children's rights.
