I get what you mean, but in my opinion a good, technically skilled singer isn't that narrow definition wise. For example in King Rat, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock is doing a really difficult routine. What sounds chaotic and "ugly" is quite hard to replicate, with quick and jarring octave jumps.
