The old town and other areas in the region are prettier and have more character. You will need a car - even within Stevenage, the retail/leisure parks are where a lot of the action is.

Worst area to live for crime would be in Bedwell area according to the crime stats in Dec 2021 and is rated as most dangerous neighborhood. I seen a lot worse that is not in Stevenage. Shephall (Hyde), Pin Green/Oval (Shops) can get rough too.
