    Philippe was born the youngest of three sons to parents Esmeralda Coutinho and Jose Carlos Correia in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 12 October 1992. Coutinho was spotted by Brazilian club Vasco da Gama during a local tournament. After a successful trial, Coutinho entered their youth system.
