  1. Jun 18, 2024 · As the Kentucky Bourbon Trail—the official route that includes dozens of distillers of America’s Spirit (the corn whiskey distilled in oak barrels that’s only made here)—celebrates its 25th...

  2. Sep 12, 2022 · Eleven of the 12 Northern Kentucky bars made the coveted list in 2021. This year’s new entrant is Purple Poulet, a southern bourbon bistro inspired by the cuisines of Charleston and New Orleans.

  3. Apr 17, 2024 · It’s pretty much everything you would imagine a classic Kentucky bourbon bar to be. For neat pours, this is the place to hit.

    • Old Forester. It's only right to begin this list with the beginning of bourbon. Founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, Old Forester is the first-known commercially bottled bourbon, according to Whiskey Rocks.
    • Jim Beam. Jim Beam may be the most commercially advertised, recognizable, and least expensive bourbon on this list. Even though it's among the cheaper bourbons, the brand's rich history ensures that this distillery is worth visiting.
    • Maker's Mark. It doesn't take a bourbon drinker to recognize a bottle of Maker's Mark. If you find yourself at the distillery, you'll have the opportunity to dip a bottle into that iconic red wax yourself.
    • Woodford Reserve. Woodford Reserve is one of the youngest brands on this list, but it has been quick to make a name for itself. It certainly helps that the brand's home is one of the oldest distilleries in Kentucky (named a National Historic Landmark, it was established by Elijah Pepper in 1812, per The Spirits Educator).
    • The Silver Dollar. The Silver Dollar is an iconic piece of the city of Louisville. The building, currently operating as a restaurant and bar, was built back in 1890 and was originally a firehouse, according to Hipstorical.
    • Proof on Main. Proof on Main can just easily be worth visiting for its food as much as its selection of bourbon. The kitchen is run by executive chef and Kentucky native Jeff Daily, who has taken the concept of local comfort food and elevated it to upscale fare at accessible prices.
    • Old Seelbach Bar. The Old Seelbach Bar operates within The Seelbach Hilton Louisville. Not only is the bar authentically restored to resemble what it was like in the early 1900s, but the hotel, itself, is a historic landmark in its own right.
    • Bourbons Bistro. Operating inside a building dating back to the 1870s, Bourbons Bistro is located in the historic Clifton section of Louisville. Any bourbon drinker will find Bourbons Bistro to be their paradise.
