Dec 9, 2015 · In the middle of a fall night in 1997, Diana Ossana stumbled upon a short fictional story by Annie Proulx in The New Yorker. The story, " Brokeback Mountain ," charted the love affair of two male cowboys, Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist, who met in Wyoming in 1963 while taking care of sheep on the fictional mountain after which the story was named.
