    • Welcome to Southwell Minster. We invite you to explore our Cathedral, Gardens and Palace. Our normal opening times are 8.30am - 6.30pm (Monday-Saturday), and 8am - 4.30pm Sundays. There is no charge for entry but donations are gratefully received. We suggest a donation of £5. Donations help us keep our beautiful buildings and gardens open and free.

    • Despite the August 1540 plans to make Southwell Minster a cathedral not initially coming to fruition at the time, in 1884, 344 years later, Southwell Minster became a cathedral proper for Nottinghamshire and a part of Derbyshire including the city of Derby : 126–127 . The diocese was divided in 1927 and the Diocese of Derby was formed.
