Remember reading an article a while back on the development of the Lotus 900 Series engines where before settling on the 2.0 907, a 1.6 or 1.8 unit was proposed and rejected by Colin Chapman though cannot seem to find any information confirming a proposed sub-2.0 900 Series engine.
