It is 85% for a pass 1 on a module. Bear in mind this requires an 85% average on assignments and 85% on the end of module exam. Perfect assignments and 84% on the exam gets you a pass 2. There are exceptions and a few percent leeway if grade boundaries are shifted or there were special circumstances.

Hi everyone, I'm currently studying for a psychology degree with the Open University, passed my first level 1 module a few months ago (passed, with 72% overall-think this is equivalent to a grade 2 pass) and I'm now studying 3 more modules at level 1.

Although the OU's grading system is very odd, the lack of exams in some subjects and the insane thresholds, if you number crunch, to get a 1st/2.1/2.2 in the OU is not that different in actual fact.
The grading system has the following thresholds: Distinction = 85% and higher. Grade 2 = 70% to 84%. Grade 3 = 55% to 69%. Grade 4 = 40% to 54%. Fail = 39% or lower. And typically, to be assigned a certain grade you need to get above the threshold in both your OCAS and OES. To illustrate.
But if you drop out before the module starts or within 14 days of the module start date, you don't have to pay anything. If you drop out before December 31st for an October start date, you must pay 25% but can then use that 25% towards another module with the OU if you wish.
