Over-the-Range Microwaves and Advantium Ovens require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to top of the appliance. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 13" between the cooktop surface below and the bottom, front of the Microwave.
Over-the-range microwaves do not require air clearance on the sides. These models are installed between cabinets, and can be installed against a wall. If installed next to a deep cabinet or wall on the hinge side (left side), however, current models require 1/2" clearance on the hinge side for the door to open.
The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 ft away. Do not place near or over a heat source.
Most of the microwaves require around at least 3 inches all around, leave three inches of space between the walls and the top, sides, and rear of the microwave oven. But for this one if you can have at least 8 inches all around for safety reasons, and especially from the top since heat rises, will be great!

The hot air needs a way to escape as it expands, which is why clearance space is so important for countertop microwaves. Over-the-range appliances are different because they have an internal cooling system that includes exhaust fans.
