One of the greatest Polish writers of the 20th century. Born in Małoszyce in 1904. Died in Vence on the Cote d'Azur in 1969, where he is buried. From 1939 until 1963 he lived in Argentina. He spent 1963-1964 in West Berlin with a grant from the Ford Foundation and the Senate of the City of West Berlin; from 1964 he lived in France.
Gombrowicz is one of the most exceptional writers in the history of literature; especially in terms of his philosophy, his method of constructing texts and the power of his language.
