   • We loved the formal gardens and could see they were growing everything for the upcoming royal visit in early August. This included the flower garden, vegetable garden, and water garden. Even though we went to Balmoral Castle during a popular time of year in July, most of the tour is outdoors around the Scottish estate.

Unfortunately, the grounds aren’t open during the winter months. The Scottish residence was a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth II and ended up being her final resting place.
