If Demonoid's admins had site backups they easily could have had the site back up in under a day on another host. Instead, 4 months later it comes limping back online, that makes no sense. It's also known that the original server was handed over to the US government.

Demonoid is a public tracker. You don't need to have an account to download the torrents. The only thing private about demonoid is their forum section. Their torrents even have DHT enabled, as well as a jubilee of other public trackers. They were once private years ago, but the admins changed that about 4-5 years before the servers got seized.
