  3. The very definition of a pointless and unnecessary follow-up, The Evening Star is simultaneously overlong and underwritten, with Terms of Endearment writer and director James L. Brooks' lack of involvement being very obvious, and its talented cast, who do give good performances, is stuck playing characters who are too underdeveloped for what's going on to be compelling.
