St George’s was originally a boys' boarding school but starting in the 1960s girls were allowed to join the 6th Form. St George’s became a day school in 1992, became co-educational in 1998, and in 2000 absorbed the nearby girls' school St Maur’s, run by the Congregation of the Holy Infant Jesus.

We believe in fostering connections and embracing the bond between day and boarding students. Boarders are encouraged to invite their day girlfriends for meals or even to stay overnight during weekends, just as they would in the comfort of their own homes.
Boarding at St George’s is intentionally flexible. Some girls choose to full board while others will tailor their boarding to give them and their family the flexibility they need. Full boarding is seven nights a week.

ST GEORGE’S CHURCH, DUMFRIES. SUNDAY WORSHIP: St George’s Church opens for worship on a Sunday morning at 11am. Our services are also live-streamed and recorded. We also hold a weekly Kids Club. More information is available on the Church Services page of the website.
