Joseph McBride (born August 9, 1947) is an American film historian, biographer, screenwriter, author and educator. He has written books on a variety of subjects including notable film directors, screenwriting, the JFK assassination, and a memoir of his youth. He also serves as professor in the Cinema Department at San Francisco State University.
Joseph Daniel McBride (born June 30, 1978) is an American criminal defense and civil rights lawyer. He founded The McBride Law Firm in 2019 and is widely known for his representation of those charged during the January 6 United States Capitol attack, including Richard Barnett.
McBride was a reporter, reviewer, and columnist for Daily Variety in Hollywood for many years. His screenwriting credits include co-writing the cult classic punk rock musical Rock ’n’ Roll High School and five American Film Institute Life Achievement Award specials on CBS-TV.
