Frank Hsia-San Shu (Chinese: 徐遐生; Jyutping: Ceoi4 Haa4 Sang1; June 2, 1943 – April 22, 2023) was a Chinese-American astrophysicist, astronomer, and author. He served as a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley and University of California, San Diego.

Frank Shu was born in Kunming, China and came to the United States at the age of six. He grew up in Chicago and West Lafayette, Indiana, and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at age twenty. He earned his Ph.D. in astronomy at Harvard University in 1968 and taught five years at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.
Shu was an extraordinary theoretical astrophysicist, advancing a series of ground- breaking contributions that fun-damentally transformed research in stellar dynamics, stellar evolution, the birth of stars, and the formation of planetary systems.
